Symantec Corp. has made available updates that make Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 8.0, Norton Utilities for Macintosh 7.0, and Norton SystemWorks for Macintosh 2.0 compatible with Mac OS X version 10.2 (“Jaguar”). You’ll have to run Symantec’s built-in LiveUpdate feature in order to download the free updates.

Norton AntiVirus is virus detection-prevention software; Norton Utilities offers disk repair, data recovery and drive optimization; and Norton SystemWorks is an integrated tool for keeping your Mac up to snuff by solving critical problems and keeping systems safe from viruses. The suite includes Norton Utilities for Macintosh 7.0, Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 8.0, Dantz Retrospect Express Backup 5.0 and Aladdin Spring Cleaning 4.0. See our June 10 review for details.
Norton Personal Firewall for Mac 2.0 doesn’t require an update as it currently runs with Mac OS X version 10.2 with a couple of caveats. One: the preferences window can’t be closed after turning on UDP protection. Two: Norton Personal Firewall isn’t compatible with Internet sharing.
