Inspiration is designed to help students develop ideas and organize thinking. It’s a previewing tool that offers both a Diagram and Outline view. The Diagram view is designed to simplify the creation and modification of concept maps, webs, idea maps and other graphical idea organizers. The Outline view lets users prioritize and rearrange ideas for creating clear essays, reports and more.
The new version (Inspiration 7) leverages Mac OS X’s Aqua user interface, improves Internet features, and the management of multimedia content, said Mona Westhaver, president and co-founder of Inspiration Software. Inspiration 7 also includes expanded capabilities for use across the curriculum in brainstorming, webbing, diagramming, planning, critical thinking, concept mapping, organizing, outlining and more.
Inspiration 7 costs US$69 for a single unit; $310 for a five-computer license; $550 for a 10-computer license; and $895 for a 20-computer license. Upgrades from previous versions (for a single-user license) are $39.95. A demo version is available for download. Inspiration Software also offers lesson plans and curriculum guides for use with the application.
