Disney Interactive has released “Disney Magic Artist Cartoon Maker” CD-ROM, the latest in their Magic Artist line.
The software lets youngsters direct and produce their very own animated show. It sports tools and controls for creating cartoon shorts, complete with music, magical effects, props, poster titles and credits. Kids can create and cast scenes with more than 450 characters, backgrounds and special audio and visual effects found in the “Creation Area.” They can even import original artwork they’ve already created with “Disney’s Magic Artist Deluxe.”
From the “Under the Hood” area, youngsters can save and play each sequence on its own or cue it up with up to three shots to run as a movie with special guest appearances and commercial interludes inserted between takes. They can also export cartoons as QuickTime movies or e-mail them to others. Plus, players can learn the tricks of the animation trade through interviews with Disney artist Andreas Deja and Disney animators, Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston.
Included with “Disney Magic Artist Cartoon Maker” is “Disney’s Magic Artist Deluxe” CD-ROM, an interactive art studio that lets folks, ages six and up, work with a range of art tools and effects, from drawing, painting and sketching to animating and more. “Disney Magic Artist Cartoon Maker” and “Disney Magic Artist Deluxe” CD-ROMs are compatible with the traditional Mac operating system (Mac OS 8.1 or later), but haven’t been Carbonized for Mac OS X. The two-disk set has a suggested retail price of US$19.99.
