United Developers subsidiary and Mac game publisher MacPlay has taken the wraps off a new and improved Web site that offers some streamlined navigational elements, a new design, details on new games, works in progress and even some playable titles you can have fun with online.
The new site offers up some details of a previously unannounced MacPlay title called Global Operations. It’s a team-based first person shooter that puts you in control of special forces, peacekeepers, terrorists, rebel groups and guerilla forces in various real-world locations like Peru and Sri Lanka. Each player specializes in different capabilities (Sniper, Demolitions, Medic, and more) and is armed with up to 32 unique weapons and additional equipment like night vision goggles and armor. MacPlay said the new game is currently in development and expects to release it during the fourth quarter of 2002.
MacPlay’s new Web Games section features online, playable games developed by GameHouse — a company that exhibited at Macworld Conference & Expo in New York this past July. GameHouse’s online games are playable through Java-enabled Web browsers running on Mac OS X, and include various arcade-style puzzlers like Bounce Out, Collapse and Glinx, the ever-popular Mah-Jong Solitaire, a few word games and more. (“Super” versions are even available for online download and purchase, if you wish.)
The site also features a Project Status page where you can get more information about games currently in development, as well as patches for Mac games that MacPlay already has released.
