The folks at
Zoomify have released Zoomifyer Flash, a product that lets you add high-resolution images to your Web site. David Urbanic of Zoomify said you can integrate images of any resolution, even gigabytes in size — into any Flash movie and use it on a Web site.
This means that site visitors can interactively pan and zoom to explore images in detail or use ActionScript to dynamically drive the display to any view at any resolution, he said. Zoomifyer Flash includes a converter droplet, viewer component, complete documentation, updates and support. To use it, you: Drag-and-drop any image on the Zoomifyer droplet to convert it to stream. Copy the converted image and the tiny Zoomify helper CGI to your server. Add the Zoomify Flash Component into your project and enter the source image URL.
Zoomify Flash is now available for download. The cost is US$129. Site licenses and educational pricing are also available.
Zoomifyer Flash includes the Zoomifyer Viewer Flash Component (.SWF and source .FLA); Zoomifyer Flash Droplet Encoder; and optimized server-side modules (CGI and servlet, with full source). It’s compatible with Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.
