This week, Shawn King, host/producer of Your Mac Life, will begin testing a new feature for his Internet radio show: video. King’s show will be broadcast using Apple’s QuickTime Broadcaster technology and in coming weeks, the show will have a shoot out of competing technologies.
If you have a dial-up connection and are used to listening to King’s audio-only broadcasts that option will still be available to you. If you want to try out the video portion of the show, there will also be a separate QuickTime 6 MPEG-4 audio and video stream available.
In order to check out the Video Stream, you’ll need to be in one of the two Chat Rooms that run during the live show — the World Without Borders site or on the dedicated IRC Server at irc.netmug.org in the #yourmaclife Channel. The URL for the test video streams will be posted there.
Guests on tonight’s show include John Siracusa from Ars Technica, who will talk about Mac OS X. Ben Waggoner, self proclaimed “World’s Greatest Compressionist” will join Shawn to talk about his new book, “Compression for Great Digital Video: Power Tips, Techniques and Common Sense.” And MacCentral’s Peter Cohen will join Shawn to keep listeners up to date with the latest gaming news.
