Although CD mastering software company Roxio doesn’t plan on formally announcing the release until next week, the company tells MacCentral that it will release an updated version of its popular Toast Titanium software.
The new version, Toast 5.2 Titanium, will offer complete support for Mac OS X 10.2.x (“Jaguar”). It also is the first software to support CD-Text in Mac OS X. VideoCD capabilities have been enhanced with improved encoding performance, optimization for multiprocessor systems resulting in a 2x speed increase, and more accurate preservation of color detail.
Toast 5.2 Titanium also sports enhanced Quartz text rendering, and supports recorders that operate up at up to 52x. Performance of Disc Copy has been improved.
There’s more, too — although it’s not reported in the press release that has circulated on various news sites, Roxio told MacCentral that Toast 5.2 Titanium will also sport support for DiscT@2 — a new technology from Yamaha that enables users to etch designs, patterns, art, or words onto the unused underside of CD-R discs, when used with a DiscT@2-compatible CD-R burner.
Anticipated for release on Wednesday, October 2nd, Toast 5.2 Titanium will be a free update for Toast 5.x Titanium users, available for download from Roxio’s Web site. It’ll be available as a retail product for US$99.95.
