Solutions Etcetera, a software company based in Pollock Pines, California, has released a public beta of SuperCard 4 Public Beta, its application authoring system that, according to its developers, can be used to create just about any type of application.
As we reported July 12, Solutions Etcetera bought SuperCard from IncWell. For the last 18-plus months, SuperCard 4.0 has been in the most intensive development in its history, according to SuperCard Product Manager Scott Simon. This new version finally breaks the 32 kilobyte limits for text fields and scripts. It also provides support for “virtually every” available interface item for both Mac OS X and Classic OS environments, allowing you to create a single project/standalone application that is completely compatible running in both environments with either the Aqua or Platinum themes, Simon said.
SuperCard 4.0 makes the scripting of the various interface items of both Aqua and Platinum easier than ever, he added. Custom properties make the creation and management of radio button groups, tab controls and popup menus a point-and-click process. There’s even a new feature for the automatic resizing of objects when a window is resized.
The SuperCard 4 Public Beta is available now from the SuperCard Web site.
