Toon Boom Studio, the 2D Web animation software from Toon Boom Inc., has been updated to version 1.2.1, making it compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.
Toon Boom Studio offers animation production for the Web that combines drawing tools and scene planning. Toon Boom Studio’s paint and drawing tools rely on the Quartz technology in Mac OS X to give the user optimal quality in drawing and coloring a vector animation. It has an automatic lip sync feature, 3D scene planning, and compact Flash-compatible file rendering.
The software also incorporates the feel of traditional animation with a rotating light table, “X” sheet visual representation of the work, and an onion-skinning or “flip-book” feature. It incorporates output to QuickTime, a second camera-view in the scene-planning mode, and Adobe Illustrator input.
System requirements are a Power Mac G3 or better (a G4 is highly recommended), Mac OS X, 128MB of system RAM, 100MB of available hard disk space, and a 24-bit color display with at least 8MB Video RAM and capable of 1024×768 resolution. Licensed users can download the 1.2.1 updater for free. For others, the product costs US$374.
