FileMaker Mobile 2.1, the new mobile companion database software for FileMaker Pro 5.5 v2 and the recently released FileMaker Pro 6, has been released by FileMaker Inc..
FileMaker Mobile 2.1 lets you transfer and synchronize data between FileMaker Pro databases on desktop computers and handheld Palm OS or Pocket PC devices. FileMaker Mobile 2.1 is compatible with FileMaker Pro 6 and 5.5 v2 and runs on handhelds with Pocket PC 2002, Palm OS 3.1 or greater and desktop computers with Mac OS 8.1 and up, including Mac OS X (though Mac OS X use requires Palm HotSync Manager). It has a suggested list price of US$49.
To use Pocket PC devices with a Mac, you’ll need PocketMac from Information Appliance Associates. It’s a software package that runs on Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS X and PDAs running the Microsoft Pocket PC operating system.
Priced at $49 FileMaker Mobile 2.1 delivers a simple “load-and-go” approach to mobile information, according to the folks at FileMaker. Today, FileMaker Mobile is used by over 100,000 FileMaker Pro customers in a variety of industries, the company said.
