Native Instruments has posted a demo version of its sampler for professional musicians, Kontakt.
Kontakt was developed by Native Instruments “to be the most powerful sampler ever created.” The software utilizes a modular, configurable interface and sports an advanced sampling engine under the hood that provides capabilities like real-time time-stretching and resynthesis, graphical breakpoint envelopes, an integrated loop editor, analog-style filters, visually displayed modulation, and other features. It also comes with more than 3GB of sounds in various styles and categories.
Kontakt had already been released for PC-compatible systems when the software was updated to version 1.1. That marked the Mac version’s debut, and now it’s available in demo form. Compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and higher, the software runs standalone and also via VST, MAS and DirectConnect.
A demo version with a demo instruments package containing a house organ, synthesizer, sample voice and speech examples is available as an option. You must fill out a form online to download the demo.
