Opera Software today launched their Opera Higher Education Program, an initiative aimed at institutions of higher learning around the world. Through the program, schools can register multiple Opera Web browser licenses at a “fraction” of the regular price, the company claims.

Opera is available is available for free in an ad-supported version, but universities and colleges can register and use the browser ad-free for as little as US$1 per license compared to the $39 regular license price. For details go to the Opera Web site.
Opera Software will be at the EDUCAUSE educational conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Oct. 1-4, 2002. The company recently released Opera 6.0 for Mac Beta 1, the latest version of their Web browser.
