Apple has updated its AirPort wireless networking software for Mac OS X users to version 2.1.1. The new version is available for download using Mac OS X’s Software Update system preferences pane.

The new version includes the latest firmware update for Snow-colored AirPort Base Stations — 4.0.7. It also adds a new checkbox in the AirPort tab of the AirPort Admin Utility that enables or disables configuration of the Base Station over its WAN port.
There’s another new feature for users who have enabled Internet Sharing over AirPort as well. You can enter a quoted or hex-escaped password. Apple noted that this enables users of Software Base Station-configured Macs to gain compatibility with Windows and other wireless networking clients that require an Equivalent Network Password.
The software may also be available for download via the
Apple Support Web site soon, though as MacCentral posted this article, the site still pointed to the older AirPort 2.0.4 drivers.
