Design and print workflow developer Ultimate Technographics has released SkinnyEPS 2.0 for Mac OS X, a US$195 Photoshop plug-in that reduces the size of EPS image files for page layout.

David Watson, President and CEO of Ultimate, said that SkinnyEPS 2.0 leverages Mac OS X and Adobe Photoshop 7 to reduce EPS images by an average of 15 times. (It works with Photoshop 6.0 and higher.)
Unlike compression solutions that need special extensions for QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign, SkinnyEPS files are just like normal EPS files, but only a fraction of the size, Watson said. A five-day demo can be downloaded from the Ultimate Web site.
