Due to ship this month, the new versions incorporate advanced server technologies developed by HELIOS over 10 years, said Helmut Tschemernjak, president of HELIOS Software. A key component of HELIOS’ 4th generation products is a new server foundation called HELIOS Base. It includes Server Fail Safety, Unicode support, networking and imaging libraries, and more.
Server Fail Safety monitors all HELIOS services via the HELIOS Service Controller, to provide mission critical reliability and process security, Tschemernjak said. The printing system supports TCP/IP, AppleTalk PAP, Postscript and PDF, and includes extensive input and output options. The new HELIOS TCP Printer driver offers three times faster printing support than AppleTalk-PAP, Tschemernjak said.
The products include HELIOS ImageServer (formerly EtherShare OPI), which supports server based image transformation, ICC-Color Management, and OPI replacement, as well as Internet optimized PNG previews; EtherShare 3.1(a high performance server for Mac clients); ImageServer 2.5 (server-based OPI image replacement and conversion with color separation and proof printing); PDF Handshake 2.1 (for PDF printing, including Internet printing); and Print Preview (for last minute proofing). See the HELIOS Web site for details.
