Chaparral Software & Consulting Services Inc., a company that provides custom database consulting and programming services, is now shipping EZxslt 1.0. EZxslt is new application that runs on Mac OS 8.1 and up and which is designed to make it easy to generate Microsoft Word documents using data stored in FileMaker Pro 6 databases.

“The hurdle most users face in adopting XML is the development of XSLT stylesheets, a task usually requiring sophisticated and time consuming programming expertise,” Chaparral President Russell Kohn said. “EZxslt eliminates that issue by automatically generating stylesheets in an end-user friendly way.”
EZxslt, priced at US$129, should be popular with FileMaker Pro 6 users who want to use Word’s typographical control and handling of long text documents such as contracts, proposals, manuscripts, and mail merge letters. In contrast to a standard Mail Merge, EZxslt makes use of FileMaker Pro 6’s built-in XML capabilities.
It supports Drag & Drop of source files, simplifying stylesheet file creation and includes online help and tutorials, as well as sample files. Stylesheets may be used locally or accessed over a network. And Ezxslt supports page break and text flow modes for multiple record output.
EZxslt 1.0 for Macintosh requires: FileMaker Pro 6.0v3 or later; Microsoft Word 98, 2000, or v.X; Mac OS 8.1 or later, including Mac OS X (10.1 or later required); 4.5 MB of available RAM; and 6.5 MB of available hard disk space. A free demo and tutorial, plus EZxslt Workgroup and Developer license pricing and details, are available on the EZxslt Web site.
