Boston, Ma.-based Tech Superpowers Inc.’s free 802.11b network, NewburyOpen.net, expanded this week with the addition of Zoe Home, located at 279 Newbury St., a furniture store.

NewburyOpen.net already provides complementary Internet access for users of computers and devices equipped with Wi-Fi-compatible wireless networking hardware, including iBooks and PowerBooks outfitted with AirPort cards. The service is available at Trident Booksellers and Cafe (at #338), The Wrap (at #247), and Tech Superpowers’ own Internet Cafe (#252).
At Zoe, visitors to the store can try a new flat panel iMac, equipped by Tech Superpowers Inc., outfitted on every computer desk.
Tech Superpowers is also repeating a public promotion it did early last month — Tech Superpowers and Taylor Imaging are teaming up to show off the Wi-Fi Hummer, installed curbside in front of Espresso Royale Cafe at 288 Newbury St. The vehicle will be parked on Sunday, October 6, giving Newbury St. visitors and denizens free Internet access within about 150 feet. In September, Tech Superpowers parked a warchalked automobile similarly equipped with free Internet access across the street from a local Starbucks coffee shop, as an alternative to Starbucks’ own pay-to-play service.
