The Somerset Collection is an upscale shopping mall located at 2800 W Big Beaver Rd in Troy, Mi. The fall features upward of 180 stores, with anchors including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom and Marshall Field’s. Boutiques include Gucci, Bang & Olufsen, Hugo Boss, Armani Exchange and many others. The Apple Store itself is situated on the first floor of Somerset North, near Nordstrom.
As always, the Apple Store’s grand opening week is marked by continuous presentations in the store’s theater area including the weekly “Getting Started on a Mac,” a beginner’s workshop on Saturday morning designed to show new Mac users (and new Windows switchers) what using the Mac is all about. Other seminars include looks at Adobe Photoshop 7, iMovie, iPhoto and iTunes, and more.
What’s more, the store will also have a “Grand Opening Sweepstakes,” a giveaway open to anyone who walks in the door that will offer one lucky winner a US$3,000 “Digital Lifestyle Collection” package which includes a Combo-drive equipped iMac, iPod, Canon Powershop S200 Digital Elph still camera, Epson Stylus Photo Printer 820 and a Canon ZR40 DV video camera.
