VueScan, the Mac OS X scanner software for flatbed and film scanners from Hamrick Software, has been updated to version 7.5.55, enhancing support for Epson, Nikon and Minolta feeders and Nikon 35mm filmstrip systems.
The update also purportedly improves the scan speed on Canon N1240U and LIDE 30 devices. Also beefed up is the display refresh rate and accuracy of file size display, according to Hamrick Software.
VueScan is a utility designed to work with most scanners and take advantage of their advanced hardware capabilities. It also assists in doing batch scanning while producing color-balanced and cropped images, according to Hamrick. It comes in Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X flavors. The cost for a single user license is US$40. The 7.5.55 update is free to registered users of 7.x (in fact, registering makes you eligible for unlimited free upgrades).
