Square Box Systems Ltd. has released CatDV Pro 3.0, the latest major release to their video logging tool and media asset database for Mac OS and Windows. The announcement coincides with the release of CatDV Workgroup Server.

CatDV Pro 3.0 enables users to automatically log DV footage, and features extensive metadata support with the ability to define an unlimited number of fields. You can also preview offline media. It supports Avid, DPS and Final Cut Pro log formats, has searching and printing features, and supports alternate media types including stills with EXIF metadata tags.
CatDV Workgroup Server extends CatDV Pro’s capabilities by enabling media catalogs to be searched and updated by multiple users at the same time. Users can work away from the server — using a laptop to log in the field, for example — and then upload clips to the central database once they’re ready to share.
CatDV Pro 3.0 runs on Mac OS 9 or later (including Mac OS X 10.1 or later), and requires QuickTime 5 or later. It costs US$275. CatDV Workgroup Server requires a server running Mac OS X or other operating systems with Java 1.3 or 1.4 and MySQL 3.23. It costs $695.
