NEC-Mitsubishi director of product line management Chris Connery explained in a statement that the move has been made to appeal to consumers who have wanted to make the move to flat panel technology. The company is hoping to make further inroads to corporate buyers as well. “As the LCD brand leader, we have the expertise and breadth of international resources that allow us to continue carving out this mainstream market for LCD desktop displays,” said Connery.
The LCD1550V and LCD1550M displays have both been cut from $449 to $359; the LCD1700V goes from $699 to $579; the LCD 1720M and LCD1850E displays both dropped $100 to $629 and $749 respectively; $150 price drops have been made on the LCD1855NX and LCD1880SX models, which now cost $849 and $1,149 respectively; and $350 has been taken off the LCD1920NX, which now retails for $949. The biggest price reduction is on NEC’s huge MultiSync LCD2110 display, which dropped $850 to $2,799.
