Game developer Bioware Corp. has provided a bit more information about their current work in progress, the Macintosh conversion of Neverwinter Nights. Once the game is finished, it’ll be published by Infogrames subsidiary MacSoft.

Neverwinter Nights is a fantasy role-playing game that features an advanced 3D graphics engine and the ability to serve and create your own scenarios, just as you would as a “Dungeon Master” for a Dungeons and Dragons role playing game. It was released for the PC earlier this year and announced for the Macintosh by MacSoft. MacSoft indicated a desire to make the game’s vaunted level editing tools available to Mac users, though stopped short of making a formal commitment to do so.
Bioware has posted screenshots of the game running on the Macintosh. The screenshots show the game’s main splash screen and a character editing interface, as well as a server interface. The game’s final system requirements and estimated ship date are still up in the air, but MacSoft has said that the game will run on Mac OS X only.
Additionally, the company has set up a new thread on its discussion forums after an older thread was locked down because of its enormity — a good indication that Mac users are enthusiastic about this new title coming to their platform of choice.
