Imagistics International Inc., a company that specializes in document imaging solutions, has introduced new multifunctional units dubbed the im3510 and im4510. Both are compatible with the traditional Mac operating system, but not Mac OS X.
Both units have embedded single processor architecture with a multitasking operating system. Coupled with integrated, printer-based connectivity features, the im3510/4510 connect to networks and serve as “communication hubs” that let users perform several tasks (printing, copying, scanning and faxing) simultaneously, according to Nathaniel Gifford, vice president, Product Development and Marketing, Imagistics.
The im3510 and im4510 units have a single pass duplex feeder and straight paper path. The systems’ Desktop Document Manager management tool lets you “push” scanned documents from the im3510/4510 to your desktop and drag & drop them into other applications. With the Desktop Document Manager, you can also store, edit, retrieve, tackle OCR (optical character recognition), integrate and distribute both paper and electronic documents. F-Code password support provides confidential faxing.
The im3510 and im4510 can handle up to 200,000 maximum impressions per month. They have printing and copying speeds of 35ppm (pages per minute) and 45ppm, respectively. They print at 600dpi (dots per inch) and up to 1200 dpi with resolution enhancement. Optional network scanning offers scan-to-email, outgoing Internet faxing, scan-to-desktop and scan-to-FTP.
The im3510 and im4510 can also be equipped with an optional 33.6 Super G3 fax modem that transmits pages up to three seconds per page with JBIG compression. They have a standard maximum paper capacity of 3,100 sheets, and can handle a variety of paper sizes, including invoices, envelopes, and spreadsheets. Both offer integrated connectivity with an embedded print controller with PCL 6 standard and PostScript 3 as an option.
Imagistics hasn’t posted prices for the im3510 or im4510 on their Web site. You can call the company (800-290-7860) for info.
