SweetCocoa, a Belgium-based company that makes Mac OS X software, has released LapCop a stealth software application designed to protect iBooks and PowerBooks.
In case your Mac gets stolen, LapCop transmits an electronic beacon to an e-mail address you determine. This stealth e-mail, containing the Internet route to your Mac, together with information about its network settings, provides enough information to accurately track your Mac geographically, according to MacTech magazine .
Built for use with Mac OS X 10.2 (“Jaguar”), the product costs US$15. You can download it now. However, for safety reasons, LapCop will only start monitoring your Mac after you register the software.
