FirewireDirect.com Inc. has added a new RAID system to their lineup — the Vanguard Ultra One. It’s a IU rack-mountable system with up to 800GB of storage capacity, configurable in RAID level 0, 1, 0+1, 3 and 5.

The new Vanguard Ultra One uses Ultra160 SCSI technology and a 64-bit RISC processor made by Intel It’s equipped with 256MB of high speed cache, which can be upgraded to 512MB. The RAID system sports 4 Ultra DMA hard drive bays and can be configured with 320 to 800GB of storage. It’s also available as an “Enclosure Kit,” if you’d prefer to configure the system yourself.
The Vanguard Ultra One supports hot spare and automatic hot rebuild. The system’s dual power supplies, cooling fans and hard drives are all hot swappable, as well. An LCD panel provides access to security and configuration options.
The Vanguard Ultra One starts at US$2,655 for the enclosure kit; the 800GB system costs $4,555.
