MDG Computer Services Inc., a 4D developer, has announced a new 4D component that provides real-time syncing, replicating, redundancy and scalability to the 4D product line. And it can be installed into existing 4D databases. LiveSync4D, is due in the next few weeks.
LiveSync4D lets anyone running 4D or 4D Server to create real-time backups of their mission critical databases, said Michael Ginsberg, president of MDG. Being able to have a 4D Runtime synced from a 4D Server lets you quickly restore a corrupted data file without having to run 4D Tools, he added.
“Also, if you have any type of Web server based in 4D, you can finally keep a real-time backup without having to shut down your Web site,” Ginsberg said.
LiveSync4D is compatible with 4D, 4D Server, 4D Runtime Classic and 4D Engine and uses TCP/IP for communication. Using TCP/IP, the synced servers can be available anywhere, according to MacTech magazine . LiveSync4D uses either Internet-ToolKit (ITK) or 4D Internet Commands for communication.
