Acro-Works Software has released PDF Magic Professional 1.0, a utility used for automating the process of creating interactive, multimedia PDF files.
It’s a standalone application that converts Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop EPS files into EPS files that Acro-Works has dubbed “Magic Link Graphics.” They contain all of the desired settings for a link the creator wishes to have in a PDF file. This Link Graphic can then be placed into any file that can place an EPS graphic. Once Acrobat Distiller has converted the file to a PDF, those links are present, activated and pre-configured, according to MacTech magazine .
In addition to the application, PDF Magic Professional 1.0 also includes a set of 160 transition graphics that lets you build page transitions such as wipes, splits and dissolves into any PDF file. Like the Link Graphics, Transition Graphics can be placed in any source file that can place an EPS. Once that file has been converted to a PDF (via Distiller), the transitions simply appear, according to Acro-Works. This enables the creation of PDF slideshows that are small, clean, reliable and viewable in the free Acrobat Reader “on nearly every platform in existence,” they add.
The PDF Magic Professional 1.0 system also includes a set of 32 View Graphics that will cause the PDF to open automatically at a particular View (such as Fit In Window and Full Screen). There are also two User Guides in PDF format. One is designed for onscreen use, and the other is formatted for print.
The price is US$190. Site license discounts and educational discounts are available. Acro-Works also promises free upgrades for the life of the product. For more info, visit the product Web site.
