MCF Software has updated ListSTAR, its customizable list server and e-mail manager, to version 2.3, which features a variety of tweaks and bug fixes.
The main folder has been renamed from ListSTAR/SMTP to ListSTAR_SMTP or ListSTAR/POP to ListSTAR_POP. Plus, the “Message Spool/SMTP” folder has been renamed to “Message Spool SMTP.” These changes were done to work around a bug in the Classic Layer of Mac OS X. ListSTAR now works cleanly under Classic, according to MacTech magazine .
In ListSTAR 2.3, when you create a new service using the templates, you’ll be prompted for the name of the list and the services; address lists will automatically be renamed after the template completes. There’s no longer any need for manual renaming.
When a new template is imported, ListSTAR will ensure that the timer service gets triggered. Previously, ListSTAR would not run the timer until a rule in the timer was edited. And there’s now an option to check and limit the size of incoming attachments.
ListSTAR is available from the ListSTAR Web site, as well as from Developer Depot. ListSTAR is $275 per license for electronic download, with discounted prices for educational, upgrade and upgrades from competitive products. All new sales include one year of free updates. A demo version is available for download.
ListSTAR runs on System 7.5 or later. However, there’s no native Mac OS X version.
