Aladdin Systems Inc. has released StuffIt Deluxe 7.0.1, a minor update to their popular compression software for the Macintosh.

The new version offers bug fixes and resolves compatibility issues with Mac OS X 10.2, “Jaguar.” It also improves the “Fast” compression speed option, according to Aladdin.
StuffIt Deluxe provides new features and functionality compared to older versions of StuffIt, including support for the new StuffIt X file format. StuffIt X files can support 512-bit encryption, improve compression up to 30 percent, add error-correction, support for long file names and larger archive size.
StuffIt Deluxe 7.0.1 is available as a free update for registered StuffIt Deluxe 7.0 users. Registered owners of previous versions of StuffIt Deluxe and various other Aladdin compression utilities can upgrade for US$29.99. The software costs $79.99 on its own.
StuffIt Deluxe 7.0.x requires a PowerPC-based Mac with Mac OS 8.6 or later (including Mac OS X 10.1 and later); 32MB available RAM; and 20MB hard disk space.
