While The Omni Group is best know to Mac users for the development of original Mac OS X software like OmniWeb and OmniGraffle, the company is also a leading developer of Mac OS X game conversions, and works closely with publishers like MacPlay to bring new titles to the Mac. The Omni Group and PopCap Games previously announced a working partnership that yielded Cocoa versions of PopCap’s Alchemy Deluxe and Bejeweled Deluxe, enhanced versions of two of PopCap’s most popular Web-based games.
Seven Seas Deluxe is a turn-based action puzzler in which you must voyage to Treasure Island, foiling pirates as you go. You can sink pirates with cannons or lure them to wreck on reefs. You can also try to trick them into colliding with each other, but you must watch out for the Sea Serpent. The game plays not unlike the classic computer game “Daleks.”
Mummy Maze Deluxe is a variation on a classic pencil-and-paper game by Robert Abbot in which you guide your explorer to the treasure of the Pyramids while avoiding the deadly Mummy that chases him.
Mummy Maze Deluxe is available for US$19.95 and Seven Seas Deluxe costs $14.95. You can download and play trial versions for free by visiting PopCap Games’ Web site before you register or buy the games. System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.1 or later and a G3/400MHz or faster processor.
