Riverdeep’s The Learning Company has released Liberty’s Kids — a new CD-ROM based on the PBS Kids television show. In this game, players ages 8 to 12 help teenaged reporters Sarah and James as they see the sights and sounds of the American Revolution.

Working from Ben Franklin’s own print shop, Sarah and James report on the American Revolution as they interview historical figures and cover seven different events, like the Boston Tea Party and Valley Forge. They meet with George Washington, Abigail Adams, Thomas Jefferson and other key characters from the birth of the United States.
Players are encouraged to develop an awareness of history and critical thinking skills as they put on their journalistic caps and examine historical events from different perspectives on their way to writing compelling front-page stories for the Philadelphia Gazette. Kids learn to separate fact from opinion as they report on the five W’s: Who, What, When, Where and Why.
Liberty’s Kids includes more than 20 printable puzzles, games and quizzes, and features more than 30 interactive characters and more than 60 items to collect.
Liberty’s Kids requires a PowerPC-based Mac running at 180MHz or faster; Mac OS 8.6 to 9.x or Mac OS X; 32MB RAM; 60MB hard disk space; and an 8x or faster CD-ROM drive.
