The Shangri-La Hotel in Thailand was the venue for the Apple World 2002 tradeshow last weekend. The show was bigger than last year’s, with Apple showing its strengths in digital media, according to an article in The Bangkok Post .
Several companies showed high-end digital solutions, including Digitron Solutions (displaying video editing technology using Final Cut Pro on Mac OS 9 and Media 100 on Mac OS X), Leaf (digital camera systems), Systematic Instrument Company (Bluetooth and connectivity solutions), and Canon (printers). Also present at Apple World 2002 was the Macintosh Center booth, manned by folks who support Mac users in Thailand.
“One area lacking, however, is the education sector,” the story says. “Recent announcements around the world have included an education program in Brazil, a computer rental and buy-back scheme for students in Britain, and most recently free OS X software for teachers in the US. None of these have come to Thailand though.”
