Seapine Software Inc. has released Surround SCM 1.1. It adds a graphical user interface client that’s compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 (“Jaguar”).
Surround SCM provides control over source code changes to software development teams that require remote access, integrated defect tracking, and advanced branching and merging capabilities. It’s cross platform with client and server support on Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Linux and Solaris.
Version 1.1 offers several tweaks such as file sharing, history reports and a preview window that provides greater control when promoting or rebasing files and repositories. What’s more, a new feature in Surround SCM 1.1 is the ability to share files between repositories. This feature facilitates maintaining common code by eliminating the need to work with multiple copies of the same source file, said Richard Riccetti, president of Seapine Software.
Other Surround SCM 1.1 improvements include the ability to search for files based on the current checkout status, speed enhancements, third-party IDE support for Visual Studio .NET and Borland’s Delphi and JBuilder. It’s available immediately; the price is US$395 for a single user license. The 1.1 update is free to registered users.
