The collection of 30 plug-ins includes some effects repurposed from Virtix’s iMovie collection, and several all-new effects, like Bubbles, Rain and Snow. You can create a glowing beam of light between two keyframable points using the new Laser effect (great for doing science fiction saber duels, according to the developer). There’s also a point-to-point lightning effect called Zap, which lets you create an electrical arc between two keyframable points.
Other effects include Virtix favorites like Blur Edges, Funhouse, Glint, Spotlight and Witness Protection, all revised and updated for use in Final Cut Pro. Some effects have additional capabilities and keyframable sliders not available in their iMovie equivalents.
Virtix Effects for Final Cut Pro can be purchased directly from Virtix for $149.99 and downloaded from their e-store. An introductory offer of $124.99 is available until December 31, 2002. the package works with Final Cut Pro 1.2.5 and later, and works under both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.
