Peripheral maker Formac Electronic Inc. has introduced its new gallery 1740 OX display, a new 17.4 flat panel LCD monitor for the Mac or PC. It’s the first monitor in Formac’s new oxygen line, which it said has been created to offer “leading-edge technologies for an affordable price.”

The 1280 x 1024 native resolution display sports Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment (MVA) technology and Formac’s own proprietary digital graphics technology, according to the company. It features 220 nits brightness and a 400:1 contrast ratio. It also features a pixel response of 10-25ms.
What’s more, the gallery 1740 OX display can be ordered in either Apple Display Connector (ADC) or Digital Visual Interface (DVI) versions, so you can use it directly on newer Power Mac G4s without the need for any adapter.
The 1740 OX is molded in a “snow-white” design. Formac anticipates the new display to be available by the end of the month. It’ll be available through Formac resellers and the company’s e-store. Its estimated retail price is US$699 for the ADC version, and $749 for the DVI version.
