First introduced to American buyers this past June, the new display has been developed for applications “where clarity is essential,” according to ViewSonic — medical imaging, for example, engineering design, digital content creation, satellite image analysis, and film editing and restoration.
The display sports a widescreen 16:10 aspect ratio, and displays images at 235 nits brightness with a 400:1 contrast ratio. It can be viewed 170 degrees horizontally and vertically and has a gamut of 16.7 million colors. The VP2290b sports a DVI-I input interface and is specifically compatible with Macs equipped with ATI’s Radeon 8500 Mac Edition graphics card, according to ViewSonic.
The VP2290b ships through authorized ViewSonic distributors and retailers in Canada for an estimated street price of CDN$12,798. The display carries a three-year warranty on parts and labor, and tech support is available toll-free 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
