Looking for some inexpensive “old school” style games for your Mac OS X system? Phelios Software has released Android, a new 2D action game in the spirit of Lode Runner and other similar titles. It’s available for Mac OS X and Windows.

You control the Android, which makes its way from one side of the screen to the other climbing ladders, jumping on trampolines and climbing ropes. The Android isn’t defenseless, either — it can light bombs that will dig holes the ground to bury enemies and other opponents. The Android must collect bags of gold to rack up points and unlock new levels.
Android features five unique worlds with 100 levels total. A downloadable demo is available from the Web site. Android costs US$15 to register, and a CD-ROM version is available for an additional price.
System requirements call for a G3/350 or faster; 64MB RAM; Mac OS X; and a graphics system with at least 8MB of VRAM.
Phelios Software is the developer behind other shareware games for Mac OS X including Bongo Boogie, a brickbashing style game featuring simians; and Doulber, featuring a friendly ant who must make his way through tunnels.
