A new user group dedicated to “power users” of Mac OS X will hold its first meeting this week on Tuesday, October 29, 7 p.m. at the dvGarage headquarters, 785 Market Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, California. dvGarage is a company dedicated to “building the next generation of visual media artists.”
The “Power X” User Group is dedicated to exploring high-end utilization of Mac OS X. Applications such as iCal and iTunes” won’t be discussed much. Instead topics such as networking and taking advantage of the command line interface will be the “bread and butter” of each evening, according to Alex Lindsay, former member of Industrial Light and Magic’s Rebel Unit, and dvGarage founder.
This month, dvGarage’s Brian Tolle will cover the in’s and out’s of networking in Mac OS X, while John Howard from Sandia National Labs will begin an ongoing set of tutorials on understanding the UNIX Shell.
The monthly meeting will be held the last Tuesday of each month. Those interested in attending can register online.
