KVM peripheral maker Gefen Inc. has announced the VGA Splitter, a device that enables a single computer to drive two analog monitors simultaneously.

The VGA Splitter has been created for applications where multiple monitors are needed to display the same information. Because the splitter is dividing a single output signal from the computer, the same information is mirrored on both displays. Gefen noted that the splitter could work up to 330 feet away from the computer when paired with Gefen’s own ex-tend-it CAT5-1000 or CAT5-5000 extension systems.
The VGA Splitter operates at resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 pixels at 60Hz. It uses twin DVI-A (Digital Visual Interface Analog) connectors and sports its own 12-volt power supply. The VGA Splitter measures about 8 x 1.75 x 4 inches and weights eight pounds.
Look for the VGA Splitter in November for US$299. More details can be found at the Gefen Web site.
