CyClone Components Inc. has introduced its DVD One-2-One disc duplication unit. The system is a standalone drive that enables users to duplicate CDs and DVDs. It also works as an external DVD-R drive on FireWire and USB 2.0-equipped systems, including Macs.

Comprising two individual DVD-R mechanisms manufactured by Pioneer, the DVD One-2-One drive can duplicate a full-length DVD every 40 minutes or can copy a CD in about six minutes. The system changes write speed, does a burning simulation, verifies master media and compares copied discs using front panel-mounted controls.
The drive has 16x DVD-ROM and 48x CD-ROM read capabilities, and records DVD-Rs at 2x, DVD-RWs at 1x, CD-Rs at 16x and CD-RWs at 10x. It supports DVD-Video, DVD-Audio formats, and should be able to record or duplicate “virtually any data, audio, hybrid, or multimedia CD format,” according to CyClone.
Carrying a suggested retail price of US$1,099, the DVD One-2-One ships with no software for Macs or PCs, but none is needed. It should work with third-party software that supports Pioneer’s DVD-R mechanisms, however.
