Proteron LLC, makers of Mac utilities, has updated LiteSwitch X, a keyboard application switcher for Mac OS X, to version 1.5.
While the Dock offers limited keyboard switching under Mac OS X, LiteSwitch X sports a pop-up window that lets you switch to any application, hide, quit and force quit any application or drag-and-drop files onto any application.
As of version 1.5, all advanced features are now available in the preferences pane. The update offers live updating for all preferences, complete support for Unicode and international text, scroll wheel support for selecting apps, key-repeat support using timing from the Keyboard preferences, a new hot-key “B” to switch with the Bring All/One forward setting temporarily reversed, and has implemented click-drag to invoke the application contextual menus (in addition to click-hold and right-click). LiteSwitch X 1.5 offers a ten-fold speed increase when drawing text, according to Proteron. Also, the window layering mode can be temporarily overridden by holding down shift.
LiteSwitch X is available immediately for download and purchase online. The cost is US$14.95. However, LiteSwitch is free to Proteron customers who purchased MaxMenus (which lets you add flexible menus to the Mac OS X user interface) at its full retail price of $29.95. LiteSwitch X is also available in a bundle with MaxMenus for $29.95. Educational and volume discounts are available, as well.
