The company’s first 19-inch UXGA (1600 x 1200 pixel) display to be offered for under $1,000 is the CT1905S, which is now available for $999 after a rebate. The CT1905S sports 200 cd/m2 brightness and 300:1 contrast ratio, with 15 ms response time. It sports both analog RGB and digital DVI inputs, along with an audio jack (for its internal speakers) and an integrated USB hub.
The CT1904N and CT1904Z are $975 and $775 respectively. The CT1904N display sports native SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixel) resolution, 250 cd/m2 brightness and 500:1 contrast ratio, and like the CT1905S sports integrate stereo speakers, analog and digital inputs, and a USB hub. It also has an S-Video input. The CT1904Z has similar performance characteristics and features, but lacks the S-Video input of the N model.
And the company’s recently introduced PL191M model — a 19-inch flat panel screen featuring “one touch auto adjust” is now $749 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The PL191M has a thin-bezel design, 250 cd/m2 brightness, 500:1 contrast ratio. It also sports native SXGA resolution, analog and digital input. Unlike its higher-priced cousins, however, it lacks the USB hub.
Planar bills itself as the third largest vendor of 19-inch LCD in the USA for the third quarter of 2002. The company offers a three-year warranty on its displays with free, 2-Day Air advance product replacement.
