Scratch & Direct provides the ability to add artificial film artifacts and dirt, useful if you want to give your video footage an aged appearance. Artifacts include grain, scratches, dirt and dust, flickering frames, uneven exposure, and drifting focus. Blip frames — white flashes between shots — can also be added. There’s a total of 23 effects, and four of them can be downloaded for free.
SplitScreen & PiP offers effects for combining multiple clips into split screen and picture in picture configurations. Two or four clips can be combined in one pass, with control over split directions, proportions and edge softness. Picture in picture effects provide users with a way of placing a smaller image anywhere in a frame, presented in its original shape or as a circle, with hard or soft edges. 22 effects are available in total, and four are available for free download.
System requirements for these two new plug-in packs call for iMovie 2.1.1 on Mac OS 9 or later, including Mac OS X. Each pack costs US$25. For more details, visit Stupendous Software’s Web site.
