Artlandia Inc. on Wednesday announced the release of SymmetryWorks 2, the newest version of the company’s Adobe Illustrator plug-in for creating repeating seamless patterns.
Taking what was once the time consuming task of a designer to reproduce a repeating motif, SymmetryWorks 2 constructs the pattern and then automatically updates it when the motif elements are edited.
New features in version 2 include the introduction of “replicas,” live copies of the original elements that the designer can move anywhere in the pattern with arbitrary rotation, reflection and scaling, without restrictions imposed by symmetry. The new version also allows the creation complex patterns with a single click by using “layouts” that remember all the vital parameters of the pattern, including its repeat size, position, scale and orientation of replicas.
SymmetryWorks 2.0 is immediately available for Mac OS, Mac OS X, and Windows platforms for versions of Adobe Illustrator 8.0 or later. SymmetryWorks 2.0 costs $164.95 with upgrades from the previous versions priced at $50.00.
