Parlor game fames will delight in Freeverse Software’s recent offerings like 3D Hearts Deluxe and 3D Spades Deluxe. Each game sports more than 20 computer-controlled opponents that can be customized with playing styles and rules suited to your preferences.
What’s more, each game includes a bonus card game as well — 3D Hearts Deluxe includes Freeverse’s Pitch game, while 3D Spades Deluxe includes Euchre. And each version — available for sale from Apple’s own e-store in boxed form — includes an 80-page rule book entitled “Tricks & Trumps: Rules of Play,” which covers rules for almost two dozen card games.
Besides entertaining computer-controlled players like “Giant” and Freeverse mascot “Jared: Butcher of Song,” each game supports online play through GameSmith, Freeverse’s own online gaming service.
Black & White: Creature Isle is an add-on expansion pack for the original Mac release of Black & White, published by Feral Interactive. The game puts you in the role of an omnipotent ruler who draws power from the worship of his people.
One of the most entertaining aspects of Black & White is your ability to create massive, powerful creatures to do you bidding, and this capability has been expanded with Creature Isle. In this addition, you take your creature and put it through a series of tests devised by a brotherhood of beasts on Creature Isle.
“There’s a secret behind these trials, however: they were devised by a mysterious creature called Eve, who longs for the ideal mate. If your creature can pass her gauntlet of tests, he will win her affection,” wrote Cook.
What’s more, Creature Isle expands the pantheon of available creatures from 15 to 18, with the addition of the Chicken, Crocodile and Rhino. Unlocking the new creatures enables you to switch the body of your creature to better suit the test at hand.
