Inspired by classic comic books, Freedom Force puts you in charge of a team of 14 original superheroes who must save Patriot City from the evil plans of Lord Dominion. You design and train the heroes, then lead them to victory in a series of 22 unique missions, most of which require you to lead a small squad of four heroes into battle.
Mixing together elements of tactical strategy gaming with role-playing games as well, Freedom Force enables you to juggle statistics, extend superhero powers, recruit new heroes and strengthen your existing teams by using their accumulated experience. The game also features local area network (LAN)-based multiplayer support.
Recommended system requirements call for a G4/400MHz or faster, Radeon or GeForce video card, Mac OS X 10.1.5 or higher, 192MB RAM.
Freedom Force costs US$39.99 and has been rated “T” (Teen) by the ESRB. Please note that as MacCentral posted this article, the MacPlay e-store had not been updated with a pre-order link for Freedom Force, but MacPlay’s Web site should be updated shortly.
