Juggy Software has released Ridge 2.0, an Internet download and upload meter and packet sniffer designed for Mac OS X.

With Ridge, you can meter and restrict the amount of data your Macs upload and download from the Internet — the software will alert you when that limit has been reached, a useful feature for users whose ISPs put strict caps on their transfer rates. The software sports a graphical interface to help you meter traffic on your machine, to better detect slowdowns and bottlenecks. If you’re curious about what’s happening with specific protocols, you can also examine data using a packet dump feature.
Version 2.0 sports an integrated installer, PPP and PPPoE compatibility, Hexadecimal packet dump and parsing for PPP, IP, TCP and UDP packets, a floating window, automatic Web update, multi-threading support, download/upload archive and more.
Ridge 2.0 is offered as US$10 shareware. Users of the Mac OS 9 Internet connection viewer TCPManager can get a free copy of Ridge by contacting Julien Guimont.
