Emagic is shipping their EMI 6|2 m Interface, a USB audio and MIDI interface for mobile recording that’s compatible with USB-equipped Mac and Windows systems.
About the size of a videocassette, the EMI 6|2 m doesn’t need an external power adaptor as it’s powered by the USB port. It provides six analog recording and two analog playback channels and two cinch sockets, which can be used as either S/P-DIF in and outputs, or as MIDI in and outputs. In addition to acting as both audio and MIDI interface, the EMI 6|2 m offers an integrated USB hub; two additional USB ports are provided for the connection of further USB hardware devices.
International shipping has now started, according to Emagic. The company hasn’t announced pricing, but says interested parties should contact their local Emagic distributor for details. A list of distributors is online.
