Handspring Inc. is offering its Treo 180 communicators for US$99 after a mail-in for a limited time only.
While supplies last, if you buy a Treo 180 or 180g with a GPRS service contract from T-Mobile, you’ll be eligible to receive $150 through a mail-in rebate. The GPRS software was built to enhance applications like e-mail and Web browsing with always-on connections to high-speed data networks.
The $99 after-rebate incentive on the Treo 180 is exclusively available from Handspring. A GSM service contract from T-Mobile that includes a 10MB or higher GPRS data plan is required to qualify for the rebate.
The Treo 180 combines GSM mobile phone, PDA features, wireless e-mail, Internet access and text messaging together in one unit. It features a greyscale screen, and comes with a built in QWERTY thumb keyboard (the 180g substitutes the keyboard with the Graffiti handwriting recognition area present on most Palm PDAs).
When the Treo 180 was first unveiled earlier this year, it cost $399, but Handspring cut the price to $249 (with the purchase of a service contract from wireless service providers T-Mobile or Cingular) in October.
