Apple is planning to open its first Seattle, Washington, area retail store, according to a Seattle Times article. It will be located in the Puget Sound area.
A spokesperson for Bellevue Square Managers, which operates the Eastside regional mall, confirmed that Apple has signed a lease for 4,600 square feet with an expectation to open the store as early as next summer. The nearest Apple stores to Seattle are in the San Francisco Bay Area.
John Landforce, chief executive officer of The Computer Store, a six-store chain of Apple resellers in the Northwest, told The Times that he’s been aware of Apple’s plans for some time due to his role as the head of a reseller advisory group for Apple.
Apple is slated to have 50 of its retail stores open by the end of the year.
